In the 1980s, Elton John witnessed friend after friend, loved one after loved one, perish needlessly from AIDS.  Since then, he has dedicated himself to overcoming the plague and stigma of the disease.  Through the Elton John AIDS Foundation, he has raised and donated $275 million to date.
